Taiyup Kim worked ITV
related design for CBS and NBC broadcasting systems
of the United States of America. He is currently
working for Bookspan Company as a Sr. designer.
Furthermore, He also consults his previous CBS ITV
Department. Every year he launches his own project
continuously to inspire a lot of designers around
the world. With his personal website “taiyup.org”,
he has been recognized Macromedia and shift from
many different media agencies.
1. From your previous website ‘taiyup.org”
you tried to approach the concept with memory of
the past. By using toy sugar,atom, store, and maruch-arch
it is remarkable such a beautiful memorandum inspired
to create your artwork. Is there any know-how or
principles to promote or state your individual artworks?
When I worked for those works, I was trying to express
my feeling, thoughts, and memory with Photoshop
images. In addition to that, I research design magazine,
post, the cover designs of music CD. All these concepts
which express current trend reflect my artworks.
2. What is the reason you change your website
domain fromTaiyup.com to sobasic.tv?
I am not using Taiyup.com any more. I currently
concentrated on sobasic.tv. taiyup is the website
for photo folio and sobasic.tv is the space for
my individual artworks.
3. I have heard that you transferred
from NBC to Time Warner branches. How is your
new atmosphere? Is there big changes on your current
project?
The ITV related project that I had done in the
past is pretty much the conceptual projects.
expressing the design is absolutely limited; however,
I remeber the processes of the projects are magnificently
dynamic. Currently I am working on marketing oriented
that pursues practical designs
for AOL Time Warner braches. I manage Time Warner
sales product website that presents the entire
sales product on the website.
4. Please introduce us about current
project that you are working on.
In January, I reorganized taiyup.org for my works.
I put all the works that I have worked in the
companies.
5. What is your unique designs and works
procedures?
My designs are influenced by current trends.
The things that I saw somewhere else are to be
reorganized into new concept or put into current
artworks. Before launching a design works, I prepare
and research with enough time.
6. Who or what are your influential person
or environment for your artworks ?
My colleagues When I work with them we learned
from each other to approach to new idea. When
we had meeting for the same project that individually
worked, I could see each designer had different
directions to express the same project. Those
expressions are from different experiences and
styles that they worked in the past . I learned
different designs from them
7. What is your nuclear point of view
of media design
Most of my media design works are for everyone
who are not familiar with media design because
of this reason I tried to give an effort on finishing
concise projects. So that users can see our point
that we want them to focus on.
8. What is the project that you were
satisfied with? Why?
I remember the all projects I worked at the NBC.
9. What is your favorite designers and
websites?
Anthony Kyriazis of Onyro.com and Matt Owens
of volumeone.com Since I started working this
field, those people have been inspiring me in
terms of inspiration and motivation.
10. What does “design” means to you?
Now, it is part of my life. I started with curiosity.
It is very hard when you get into more deeper;
at the same time, It attracts me so much.
11. There are a lot of designers who
want to work on there carriers in the United States.
As a designer who work in the U.S, any comment
on those people who want to work in the U.S?
It is pretty obvious that communication is the
important aspect. It is not necessary to have
language proficiency skill equivalent to natives,
however, the person must communicate without any
problems when the person work on there field.
Also, it is important to understand schema of
the project. if above elements are satisfied,
it can be big help to adapt this country.
12. Any comment for web designer perspectives?
It seem that although you are a web designer,
you don’t have to put you in a circle of web designers.
You must look for more possibility and more directions.
If you have your own conception of design, you
probably can do everything through any kinds of
sources.
13. Any future plan?
Try to be busy as possible And for in person,
I would like to try design done manually.
